An infant was one of two victims of a fatal car crash. A violent head-on car accident in Los Angeles Monday night, according to police, involved a stolen white Kia and was reportedly speeding through the Vermont Square neighborhood when it crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a black Nissan.
The driver, who was also the suspected car thief, was ejected on impact and killed. Police said he is believed to have reached speeds upwards of 100 mph just prior to the crash. The six-month-old baby, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was also killed upon impact. The baby’s parents were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, and no further information on their condition has been released.
The crash remains under investigation. This marks the second recent major crash involving an infant in Southern California. A single-vehicle accident on the 60 Freeway Monday morning caused two deaths and left two others seriously injured, including an infant.
