On Saturday, six people were hospitalized after a Long Beach car crash. According to Long Beach Police, a gray Kia Rio sedan and a black Honda Civic Sport sedan collided at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Ocean Boulevard, across from the Long Beach Terrace Theater.

Police said five women were heading eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when their vehicle was struck by a male driver as they turned left onto Long Beach Boulevard. The impact caused the Kia to strike a traffic pole in the center median and sent the Honda crashing onto the sidewalk across the street. Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage. Police did not indicate which passengers were inside each vehicle.

All six people were transported to area hospitals with varying levels of injury. At least one woman was listed in critical but stable condition. Police said speed and impaired driving are likely contributing factors, though the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
