An Orange County man was killed while teaching a teenage relative to drive. According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, the car, driven by the teenager, crashed through a barrier and careened off an embankment, falling 40 feet down the hillside. The crash occurred around 4 p.m. along Coast Highway near a closed grocery store parking lot in Laguna Beach.

Police said the car landed on its roof and came to a rest on a sidewalk below. The man died at the scene and the teen was rushed to a Mission Viejo hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Police closed Coast Highway after the crash, which remains under investigation.
