Four Airlifted With Serious Injuries
Nine people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Baker early Sunday. According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, all nine were transported to regional hospitals by three medical helicopters and four ambulances with moderate to severe injuries. Authorities said the collision occurred just after 5 a.m. and involved a Toyota minivan and a Honda sedan.
A fourth helicopter was later dispatched to meet one ambulance at an area hospital to further transport one of the victims. Firefighters reported significant damage to both vehicles but confirmed no fires or extended extrications were necessary.
Additional medical support was provided by a Hesperia-based ambulance and personnel from Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Desert Ambulance, and air units from Air Methods Corporation and Classic Air Medical. California Highway Patrol, Barstow Division provided traffic control. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
