On Tuesday, a motorcyclist was killed on Phelan Road prompting major traffic closures and delays. According to the Hesperia Police Department, a motorcycle collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck around noon on the eastbound lane, just before Highway 395.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The truck’s driver and a passenger were not injured in the collision.

No further details have been released at this time and the incident remains under investigation by the Hesperia Police.

Motorcycle crashes often result in serious or fatal injuries because riders have little physical protection compared to occupants of passenger vehicles. Impacts with larger vehicles, such as pickup trucks, can be especially dangerous due to the size and height differences involved. On heavily traveled roadways and highway connectors such as Phelan Road and Highway 395, traffic volume and turning vehicles can further increase the risk of severe collisions.
